What the player does

Nothing about what you listen to leaves your device. The noise is generated by your own browser using the Web Audio API — there is no audio stream, no server call while it plays, and nothing for us to log about what you listened to or for how long. As with any website, loading a page sends the normal HTTP request metadata needed to serve it.

Two values are saved in your browser’s local storage:

• the noise colour you last chose
• the volume you last set

They exist so the player comes back the way you left it. They stay on your device, are never transmitted, and clearing your browser data removes them.

Neither identifies you, and there is no account, no login, and no profile attached to either.

Third parties

There are none.

This site has no ads, no tag manager, no session replay, no embedded video, no social widgets, no comment system, and no hosted fonts. Every file the page loads — the styles, the scripts, the fonts, the images — is served from this site’s own domain. No other company is told that you visited, and there is nothing here that could tell them.

That also means the site sets no cookies at all, which is why you were never asked about any.

Counting visits

We measure how many times each page is viewed. This happens server-side when the request is served; there is no analytics JavaScript in your browser and no cookie.

The page-view counter is self-hosted alongside the site. The internal counting request contains the page path, the browser identification string (User-Agent), and the referring page (Referer). Your IP address is not part of it.

Those values are used to produce aggregate page-view counts, not a visitor profile. We do not use them to follow one person from page to page.

There is no consent banner for this measurement because it uses no client-side tracking, cookies, or third-party service. No other company receives the page-view data.

Server logs

Separately from the counts above, requests for these pages reach a web server, which records the usual request metadata — IP address, timestamp, path, user agent — as part of operating and securing the service. These logs are not used to build profiles and are not combined with anything from the player.

Offline and installation

Installing this page as an app, or simply revisiting it, stores a copy of the site’s files in your browser’s cache so it works without a connection. That cache lives entirely on your device and contains only this site’s own pages, styles, scripts, and fonts. Uninstalling the app or clearing site data removes it.

The Android app

The Noise Machine Android app takes the same position one step further: it has no internet permission at all, so it cannot send anything anywhere even in principle. Its policy is published separately with the app.

Changes

If what this page describes changes, the date at the top of it changes. There is no mailing list to notify, because there is no mailing list.
